A three-time all-region selection, Zach Hofer closed his collegiate career as one of the best baseball players in Elmhurst history.
After an injury cut short his 2008 season after just a few games, Hofer returned with a vengeance in 2009. He earned first-team all-conference and second-team all-region honors while taking home CCIW Player of the Year honors and hitting a team-best .405.
Hofer battled injuries the following season but still hit .320 while being limited to just 26 games played. As a junior, he earned first-team all-conference and all-region accolades while hitting .372 with a team-leading 18 extra-base hits and a .561 slugging percentage. He also led the squad in doubles (14), runs scored (38) and home runs (four).
As a senior, Hofer battled through injuries to finish the year with a team-leading .433 average while also leading the squad in doubles (11), home runs (four), RBI (35), slugging percentage (.692) and on-base percentage (.520). He was named a Division III National Player of the Week for driving in 15 runs over a four-game span. He earned second-team all-region honors while also being named as the regional Gold Glove award winner.
Hofer closed the book on his career ranked seventh (now ranked 12th) in school history in runs scored (111) and hits (178). His career batting average of .381 continues to be ranked as the eighth-best total in school history. He also is still ranked among the school's all-time leaders in home runs (10th with 15), doubles (third with 43), extra-base hits (fifth with 63), total bases (seventh with 276) and slugging percentage (ninth with .591).
