A member of the inaugural Bluejay Backer Hall of Fame class in 1980, Bill Simpson was a two-sport star at Elmhurst. 

Simpson, who was named Elmhurst's Most Outstanding Athlete in 1975, lettered in both basketball and baseball at Elmhurst.

His name continues to be etched all over the Elmhurst basketball record book.

He closed out his career with 1,669 points, the second-highest career total in Elmhurst history. His 692 points during the 1974-75 season still ranks as an Elmhurst single-season record. His 54 point performance against Wheaton in 1975 ranks as the highest single-game total in Elmhurst history.

A three-time all-conference honoree, Simpson set single-season (315 in 1974-75) and career (764) records for field goals made. In addition, his 1,141 points in league game's rank among the top ten scorers in CCIW history.
