Her 1989 high jump of 5-5 1/2 indoors is a school record.

Marchant won CCIW high jump championships (outdoors) in both 1989 (5-5 3/4) and 1988 (5-4). She placed fourth (:27.18) in 1990, when she also was eighth in the high jump. In 1988, Marchant ran on Elmhurst's then indoor school-record 1,600-meter relay team (4:27.3), and set the indoor school record (then) in the 400-meter dash (1:04.7). A two-sport letter-winner, Laura also ran cross country in 1988, when she placed 30th at the Illinois Division III Championships with a personal record of 21:31.24 for 5,000 meters.
