Schultz was an outstanding baseball pitcher and ranks second on Elmhurst's all-time list for most strikeouts in a season (82) and for a career (198). He was a four-year letterman and served as captain of the '67, '68, and '69 baseball teams. During his senior year, Schultz was named most valuable player.
