Kim Merrifield is the first member of the Elmhurst women’s golf team to be inducted into the Bluejay Backer Hall of Fame. A 2000 graduate, Merrifield is the most decorated women’s golfer in Elmhurst history.

Merrifield became the first Elmhurst golfer to finish among the top 10 finishers at the CCIW Championship, scoring top-10 conference honors for all four years of her career.

In her first season with the squad she placed third at the CCIW Championships with a 182. The next season, she shot a 164 and settled for second place after losing a tiebreaker for the individual title. In
1998, Merrifield repeated her second-place finish at the CCIW Championship, shooting a 174. In 1999, she recorded a 168 at the conference championship and was crowned the CCIW Champion after winning a two-hole playoff. She continues to be the only Bluejay women’s golfer to finish in the top-10 in the CCIW standings.

Merrifield also holds Elmhurst records for lowest 18-hole score (77 at the Illinois Wesleyan Invitational in 1999), lowest 36-hole score (164 at the 1997 CCIW Championship) and lowest 18-hole single-season average (83.25 in 1999).
