A draft pick of the San Francisco Giants, Brad Groth finished his career as one of the most decorated baseball players in Elmhurst history.

Groth turned in one of the best single seasons in Elmhurst history in 2004. He set Elmhurst single-season records for hits (80), batting average (.482), runs scored (60) and at bats (166) while being named a second-team All-American by the ABCA. Groth was also named the CCIW’s Co-Player of the Year and was chosen as the National College Baseball Writers Association’s Central Region Player of the Year in 2004.

Groth was a two-time all-region selection in his career, as well as a three-time all-CCIW pick (second team in 2002 and 2003, first team in 2004). He finished his career as Elmhurst’s all-time leader in hits (215), runs scored (163), and at-bats (589). He also ranks second in career doubles (40), fourth in total bases (286) and RBI (120), eighth in batting average (.365), and ninth in extra-base hits (52).

Groth was also a success in the classroom, earning ESPN The Magazine Second Team Academic All-America honors in 2004.
