Doug Mullaney was an outstanding baseball player and four-year letter-winner for the Bluejays. He was named to the CCIW first team three times, participated on three CCIW championship teams, and was named captain his junior and senior years. Mullaney continues to rank high atop the Elmhurst record books and at the time of his graduation was the Elmhurst leader in career at bats (546) and triples (11), and ranked second with 180 hits and 248 total bases. He also held the single-season record for most triples with five.

Mullaney served as an assistant baseball coach for the Bluejays in 1984 and also served as York High School's head baseball coach.
