Warheim is the first and only Elmhurst College tennis player to win the College Conference of Illinois (now College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin) Championship at #1 singles. He defeated Harry Goldsmith of Lake Forest College 1-6, 6-4, 6-3 to earn the singles title during the 1953 season.

Warheim was a four-year letter-winner in men's tennis, playing at #3 singles as a freshman and then playing at #1 singles for three straight years. He also played at #1 doubles all four seasons and twice served as team captain. In addition, he earned a varsity letter in cross country in 1952.
