A 1988 graduate, Therese was an All-America setter/outside hitter and captain on the Bluejays' 1985 NCAA Division III national championship and 1987 national runner-up volleyball teams, which posted identical 40-9 records. During her career, Elmhurst boasted a .760 winning percentage (146-46) and won four straight conference championships—two each in the Chicago Metro Conference and the CCIW.

Dorigan garnered Asics Tiger Player of the Year honors in 1987, and her All-America honors included: Asics Tiger, first team, 1986 and 1987; Russell Athletic, first team, 1986 and 1987, and honorable mention, 1984; Volleyball Monthly, first team, 1987; National Collegiate Women’s Athletic Association team, 1987 and 1988; GTE Collegiate Division Academic, first-team, 1985 and 1987, and second-team, 1986; and U.S. Achievement Academy Collegiate Scholastic team, 1988. She was chosen to four straight all-conference first teams and was named the CCIW Player of the Year twice as an upperclassman. In 1988, she also received an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship and was inducted into the American College Athletic Hall of Fame.

Dorigan was named Elmhurst’s Female Athlete of the Year twice as an upperclassman and was honored as Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year as a senior. In 1990, she returned to Elmhurst to serve as an assistant volleyball coach.
