A long-time fixture at Elmhurst College, C.C. Arends touched the lives of many Elmhurst College students as a professor, chairman of the speech communication department and head coach of the Bluejay men's tennis team.
Arends coached the Bluejays 38 seasons, beginning in 1930. His final season as a coach was in 1968. He amassed 145 wins as the head coach, the most in school history. During the 1954 season, he coached the Bluejays to their first and only CCI (College Conference of Illinois) Championship.
