Elmhurst University Athletics Hall of Fame
A two-sport athlete at Elmhurst, Deve Ek was part of the inaugural class of the Bluejay Backer Hall of Fame in 1980. A standout on the track team, Ek had even more success on the gridiron.
Ek broke six records football records at Elmhurst and finished his career as the Bluejays' all-time leading rusher (2,298 yards). He also set an Elmhurst career for number of carries (455). He established single-season records for most carries (171 in 1964) and rushing yardage (818 in 1964). He also finished as Elmhurst's career leader in total points scored (122) and had a rushing average of 5.1 yards per carry.
