A leader on the gridiron, Barich anchored an offensive line that led the CCIW in total offense in three of his four seasons. He earned first-team All-CCIW and Kodak All-American honors during the 1982 season, in which the Bluejay offense generated over 350 years per game and averaged 32 points per game.

Throughout Barich's stay at Elmhurst, the Bluejays were among the national leaders in total offense and scoring offense. Barich was a part of the 1980 team that shared the school's second CCIW football title. During Barich's three years as a starter on the offensive line, Elmhurst compiled a 21-6 overall record.
