Elmhurst University Athletics

Coach Al Hanke has been a member of the Elmhurst College coaching staff since 1973. During that time, he held the positions of head football coach, women's tennis coach, wrestling coach, track and cross country coach and golf coach. He was also a member of the physical education department faculty.

Prior to joining Elmhurst College, Hanke was a coach at Lake Forest College. His combined record for 36 years of college wrestling was 238-172-7. When he ended his career, he was ranked fifth in the NCAA in most wins and second in most years as a coach. Hanke was named to the Illinois Wrestling Association Hall of Fame in 1986 and served as President of the Division III Wrestling Coaches Association. He is also a member of the Carroll College Athletic Hall of Fame at his alma mater.
