George Johnson, a switch-hitting first baseman and designated hitter who lettered four years in baseball (104-56/.650), earned both NCAA Division III All-Midwest Region third team and CCIW Player of the Year honors in 1982 when he batted .374 and drove in 33 runs for the Bluejays (25-18). He also was a four-time All-CCIW first-team honoree.

During his career, Elmhurst won four consecutive CCIW Championships (56-8/.880) and qualified for one NAIA and three NCAA post-season tournaments. Johnson remains the Bluejays' career leader in doubles with 46 and walks with 114 (including a school record of 34 in 1981). For over 25 years he also held records for career hits (189), extra-base hits (67), total bases (288), RBI (121), and putouts with 1,054.
