Box Score ELMHURST, Ill. - Drew Wassenaar capped off a hat trick by scoring the game-winning goal in double overtime to lead the Elmhurst men's lacrosse squad to a 7-6 win over Illinois Wesleyan University.
Elmhurst (7-8) raced out to a 5-2 lead at the half and then had to hold off a second-half charge from Illinois Wesleyan (8-5).
IWU's Andrew Schreiber scored midway through the first period to put the Titans up 1-0. Elmhurst scored the equalizer with 3:44 left in the first on
Alex Opyd's strike off a feed from Wassenaar.
Matt Westhaver scored a wrap around goal with just 10 seconds left in the quarter to put Elmhurst up 2-1.
Illinois Wesleyan's Jrodan Gagnon scored the equalizer just over two minutes into the second period, but Wassenaar scored his 33rd goal of the season just 1:34 later to put Elmhurst back in front. Wassenaar registered his 34th goal with 4:38 remaining to put Elmhurst up by three. Opyd connected on his second goal of the game just 1:20 later, giving Elmhurst a 5-2 lead at the half.
IWU started quickly in the second half as Evan Mok-Lame and Michael Julius both scored early in the period to slice Elmhurst's lead down to one. Julius evened the score at five early in the fourth quarter with his 39th goal od the season.

Mal Euson cashed in off an
Alex Opyd assist to score on the man-up advantage.
The Titans evened the scored on a Tyler Rauwolf goal with just 3:13 left in regulation.
After a scoreless first overtime, Wassenaar collected a pass from Opyd and ripped home his third goal of the game to lift the Bluejays to the victory.
Wassenaar and Opyd both tallied four points apiece to lead the Bluejays. Wassenaar netted three goals and tallied an assist while Opyd totaled two goals and two assists.
Tyler York earned the win in the net for the Bluejays, recording 14 saves while allowing six goals in 65 minutes of play.
