Bluejays advance to CCIW Final with win over North Central

ELMHURST, Ill. – The Bluejays continue to make history, as Elmhurst Men's Lacrosse opened their postseason run on Wednesday night with a 17-4 win over North Central in the CCIW Men's Lacrosse Championship semifinal at Langhorst Field.

The win is the 14th of the season for the Bluejays, setting a program record for wins in a single season. Elmhurst also qualifies for the CCIW tournament final for the third straight year.

Senior Eli Spence led the attack for the Bluejays, scoring a game-high six goals, and setting a new Elmhurst single-season record in the process. Spence has totaled 71 total goals on the season, besting Mac Harden's (2019) former record of 70 goals.

Spence scored three of the team's first four goals on the night, but North Central would take an lead late in the first quarter with a goal at the 5:32 mark to go up 3-2. Early in the second period Landon Davis would tie the game, and Spence put the Jays back on top with a goal just seconds later.

From then on Elmhurst was in total control, with a run of 14 unanswered goals spanning the full second and third periods.

Along with Spence's six goals, David contributed four scores, while Charlie Ferree and Brent Diehl collected three assists and one goal apiece.

Elmhurst will now advance to the CCIW Championship Final, set to be held at Langhorst Field on Saturday, May 2 when the Bluejays host Illinois Wesleyan beginning at 1:00 p.m.
