Lacrosse Team Falls at Hanover

Box Score HANOVER, Ind. - The Elmhurst men's lacrosse team dropped its fifth straight contest, falling 15-5 at Hanover College.

The Bluejays slipped to 2-8 overall and 1-6 in the MLC with the loss.

Hanover (4-9, 3-5 MLC) started quickly, scoring five goals in the opening period and tacking on four more in the second to build a 9-0 lead at the half.

After Hanover scored early in the third period, Elmhurst's offense came to life, scoring four of the next five goals. Tyler Dailey netted all four goals, including two on man-up advantages. The Bluejays outscored Hanover 4-3 in the period.

Elmhurst's Alex Opyd scored midway through the fourth period to account for the Bluejays' final goal.

Mal Euson and John Fiedler each tallied an assist for the Bluejays in the loss. A.J. Weiger led the squad in ground balls with five while Fiedler and Dailey scooped up four apiece.

Nick Hermes led Hanover in the wi with five goals and two assists. Matt Weber and Luke Karnick scored three goals apiece for Hanover.

Tyler York took the loss in the cage for the Bluejays, recording 19 saves in the contest.

Hanover outshot Elmhurst 56-19 in the contest and had a 57-31 lead in ground balls. Hanover also dominated at the faceoff dot, winning 21-of-24 attempts.  The Bluejays committed 31 turnovers in the loss.

Elmhurst travels to Augustana College on Sunday (April 21).
