CHICAGO, Ill. - The Elmhurst College wrestling team improved to 2-0 in dual meet competition by pounding the University of Chicago 38-9.
Elmhurst won eight of the 10 matches, including four matches by pinfall. The Bluejays won the first six matches of the dual to race out to a 26-0 lead. Jake Oster remained unbeaten at 125 pounds and won his sixth straight match by pinfall by pinning Jimmy Schoettle in 5:54. At 133 pounds Ben Salabura scored an 8-5 win over Ben Hart. Rob Lejman followed with a 12-3 major decision over Chicago's Matt Hart at 141 pounds. Charlie Curran scored a 15-2 major decision over Nick Bartley at 149 pounds while Tony Doan scored a 6-4 sudden victory over Chicago's Spencer Burns at 157 pounds. Tim Gleich pinned Chicago's Carter Lorant in 2:59 to give the Bluejays a win at 165 pounds.
Chicago got on the scoreboard at 174 pounds when Troy Carlson pinned Elmhurst's Frank Savegnago in 2:59. Garrett Washington pinned Chicago's Stephen Hanzilk in 1:27 at 184 pounds. Chicago's Justin Lucas scored a 4-2 win over the Bluejays' Bernie Vazquez at 197 pounds. Mark Corsello closed out the dual by pinning Chicago's Tom Nero in 5:52 to score the Bluejays a win at 285 pounds.
