WHEATON, Ill. – Returning to the mat for the first time in over a month, sophomore Rhenzo Augusto picked up right where he left off, leading Elmhurst Men's Wrestling by winning the 157-pound division at the 2026 Pete Wilson Wheaton Invitational over the weekend.
Augusto picked up five wins throughout the event, with two falls, including one in just 31 seconds during the quarterfinals.
Ryan Hinger would reach the quarterfinals at 149, as the the second of four Bluejays to score points for the team standings. Hinger picked up tech falls in the first two rounds, including a 15-0 win in the second round.
At 197 pounds, Connor Kelly fell in the second round after earning a bye, but would pick up a consolation win with a fall in 0:42. At 125, Alejandro Cordova won by tech fall in the first consolation round to finish the scoring for the Jays.
As a team, the Bluejays totaled 34.5 points, good for 17th in the 30-team field.
The Bluejays will now prepare for the CCIW Men's Wrestling Championships, hosted by Carthage College on Saturday, Feb. 14.
