Box Score ELMHURST, Ill. – Making their home season debut on Saturday, Elmhurst Men's Lacrosse kept the perfect start to the year intact with a 15-4 win over Aurora at Langhorst Field.
Eli Spence would lead the way for the Jays, collecting a game-high eight points on five goals and three assists. Hunter Hernandez scored three times, while Kyle Taylor and Charlie Ferree recorded two goals in the win.
Hernandez would get the Bluejays on the board first with a goal two minutes into the contest, but Aurora would even the score shortly after. Back-to-back scores from Taylor and Spence, followed by a second goal from Hernandez in the final seconds of the period would give Elmhurst a 4-2 lead after the first quarter.
The Bluejays would pull away in the second, taking advantage of a Spartan penalty and scoring up a man on Taylor's second goal of the day. Gabe Henry and Fischer Son would score, with Ferree getting his first goal as part of a four-goal rally that gave the Bluejays a 8-2 lead at the half.
Spence took over in the third quarter, scoring four times as Elmhurst outpaced their opponents 5-1 in the period. Hernandez and Ferree added goals in the fourth quarter as the Jays put the game away for their third victory of the year.
Andrew Lacksonen made 11 saves to pick up his third win of the year in goal.
The Bluejays will look to continue the win streak as the five-game home stretch continues with a pair of games at Langhorst Field next week. Elmhurst will next play host to Lake Forest on Wednesday, Mar. 4 at 7:00 p.m.
