Bluejays Continue Winning Ways

Box Score GEORGETOWN, Texas – The Elmhurst University men's lacrosse team took down Whittier College, 10-8, to head back to Illinois with two more wins under its belt.

The Poets jumped out to a 2-0 lead with goals from Luke McElligott and Mason Leet in the first seven minutes of play, but Eli Spence put the Bluejays on the board with 4:55 remaining in the opening quarter to get within one.

Whittier (1-6) scored the first goal of the second period, but they were unable to score again before the half, while the Bluejays rattled off four unanswered goals to take a 5-3 lead at the half.

Both squads scored five goals apiece in the second half, but Elmhurst's scoring frenzy in the second quarter proved to be too much for Whittier to overcome.

Elmhurst (7-1) was led by Spence with four goals and one assist. Following closely behind was Kaden Ames with three goals and an assist, while Brenden Crouse, Ethan Stepanek and Chris Haycock each added in one goal in the win for the Bluejays. Jake Grebe led the team in assists with three, while Tony Vazquez grabbed a game-high 11 groundballs.

Whittier was led by Kalwin Iha who finished with two goals, while Alex Coco and McElligott chipped in two goals apiece in the loss. Connor Hoemann and Leet added in one goal each for the Poets, while Peavey picked up a team-high four groundballs.

Elmhurst returns home to host Calvin University on Wednesday, March 29 at 7:30 p.m. at Langhorst Field.
