BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – The Elmhurst University men's and women's track and field teams opened up their indoor track season at the Olivet Nazarene University Holiday Invite.
Ava David and
Huda Hussaini both finished in the top-eight of the 60 meters. David earned a second-place finish with a time of 7.85 seconds, while Hussaini checked into the eighth spot with a time of 8:08 seconds.
Hanna Matuszewski closed out the top-10 finishers in the 200 meters with a time of 27.38 seconds.
Nakala Nadeau shaved off .19 seconds from her previous school-record in the 60-meter hurdles to win the event with a time of 8.94 seconds.
Venezia Munoz also earned a first-place finish in the 800 meters with a time of 2:30.18. The 4x400 relay featuring, Hussaini,
Karmyn Flesch,
Naomi Jones and David, team clocked in with a time of 4:11.14 to win the event.
The Bluejays boasted six women in the top-seven finishers in the triple jump, long jump and high jump.
Erin Matthias earned a fifth-place finish in the triple jump with a distance of 10.07 meters.
Francesca Scarabaggio checked into the fifth spot in the long jump with a distance of 5.02 meters.
Vanessa Carr and
Lauren Marshall earned sixth and seventh place finishes respectively with distances of 4.89 and 4.85 meters. Marshall also finished ninth in the 60 meters with a time of 8.19 seconds. Rounding out the jumpers are
Angelina Camaci and
Vashayla Bradley who cleared 1.49 meters and 1.44 meters to earn fourth and seventh place finishes in the high jump.
On the men's side,
Braxston Redmond earned a second-place finish in the 400 meters with a time of 51.90.
TJ McNamara posted a time of 9.44 seconds to secure a fourth-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles, while
Eric Jandura checked into the eighth spot with a time of 9.71 seconds.
Marvin Tchangwa clocked in with a time of 2:07.70 to place fourth in the 800 meters.
In the jumps,
Jeremy Inniss earned a first-place finish in the long jump with a distance of 6.63 meters, while teammate
Uzair Ali followed closely behind in third-place with a distance of 6.50 meters. Rickey Martinez checked in at fourth-place and Ali in sixth-place with distances of 12.87 meters and 12.34 meters respectively in the triple jump.
Both men's and women's track and field teams are back in action on Saturday, January 21 at the I-55 Invite hosted by Illinois Wesleyan University.
