Bluejays Open Indoor Season With Strong Showing at UW-Oshkosh Early Bird Invite

OSHKOSH, Wis. – December 6, 2025 — Elmhurst University's men's and women's track and field programs opened the 2025-26 indoor season in impressive fashion at the UW-Oshkosh Early Bird Invitational, earning numerous event wins, top-three finishes, and early conference-level marks across sprints, hurdles, jumps, throws, and relays.
 

Women's Recap — Elmhurst Dominates Sprints and Jumps

The Bluejays women set the tone immediately with a commanding performance in the 60-meter dash, sweeping the top three places.

Elmhurst placed six athletes in the top 18 during prelims, showcasing remarkable depth in the sprint group.

Woods returned with another standout race by winning the 400 meters in 57.87, the only athlete under 58 seconds. Samantha Martens added a strong fourth-place finish in 1:00.64, with Violet Schramm close behind in 1:01.15.

The Bluejays were dominant in the hurdles, where Brooke Greaves won the 60-meter hurdles in 8.82, backed by Tiana Grady in third (8.99) and Anna Andretich in eighth (9.53).

Elmhurst's jumpers delivered one of the most impressive early-season statements in the region:

The trio returned to dominate the triple jump, where Selmer won with 11.66m (38-3.25), Tinajero took second at 11.42m (37-5.75), and Carr placed fourth with 10.81m (35-5.75).

Additional scoring performances came in the 4x400 relay, where Elmhurst finished fourth in 4:17.87, and in the high jump, where Brooke Greaves and Angelina Camaci both cleared 1.55m (5-1) to tie for third.
 

Men's Recap — Bluejays Open With Depth Across Sprints, Distance, Hurdles, and Jumps

Freshman Jamie Spencer led the men's sprint squad with a breakthrough performance in the 60-meter dash, placing fifth in the final with a time of 7.23 after qualifying with a strong 7.24 in prelims. Fellow freshman Gino Orestano followed with a solid 7.46.

In the 200 meters, Elmhurst posted four competitive marks, led by Zaiden Smith in 23.52, followed by Shawn Woodall in 23.68, Jamie Spencer in 23.93, and David Monteilh in 24.56.

The Bluejays shined in the 800 meters, led by Kayden Miller, who finished 7th in 2:01.20. Chris Marroquin joined him in the top 10, placing 9th in 2:03.02.

The men's 4x400 relay delivered one of the day's top team highlights, finishing second overall in 3:32.51 behind a lineup of Marroquin, Miller, Woodall, and Smith.

Elmhurst's field event athletes posted significant early-season marks:

  • In the high jump, freshman David Monteilh cleared 1.90m (6-2.75) to place sixth, while teammates Austin Long (1.80m), T.J. Ellison (1.75m), and Ahmari Burnett-Stokes (1.70m) added depth.

  • Hassan Kamara turned in a huge day in the jumps, finishing 7th in the long jump with 6.78m (22-3), then placing 5th in the triple jump with a strong 13.47m (44-2.5).

  • Braxton Mitchell jumped 13.13m (43-1) for sixth, while Kayton Garrett added 13.10m (42-11.75) for seventh.

In the throws, freshman Rashard Wraggs made his indoor debut with a 6th-place shot put finish at 8.74m (28-8.25).

Multi-event standout Jaedon Thompson opened his season with a 6th-place overall finish in the men's heptathlon, highlighted by a 6.43m (21-1.25) long jump and 11.86m (38-11) shot put.
