ELMHURST, Ill. - Elmhurst University's Bryce Gable and Ryan Brenner have both been named College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Football Players of the Week. Gable was named the league's Defensive Player of the Week while Brenner was selected as the Special Teams Player of the Week. 

Both players earned the honor for their part in Elmhurst's 28-7 win over Millikin University on Saturday.

Gable, a junior linebacker from Grandville, Mich., led the Bluejays' defense in the win over the Big Blue. The CCIW's leader in tackles per game, Gable finished with a team-leading 10 tackles, including 2.5 tackles for loss. Gable also recovered a fumble and returned it for a 23-yard touchdown. He also recorded an interception and a quarterback hurry. Elmhurst's defense allowed just seven points to a Millikin offense that entered the game averaging over 30 points per contest. 

Brenner, a junior punter from Gilman, Ill., helped lead the Bluejays' strong special teams' efffort in the win over Millikin. Gable punted seven times for 262 yards, averaging 37.4 yard per punt. He boomed a long punt of 43 yards in the contest and dropped one punt inside the  20-yard line. Millikin did not begin a drive off of a punt beyond their own 27 yard line.

Elmhurst travels to top-ranked North Central College on Saturday, October 16.
