Box Score ELMHURST, Ill. – After scoring a late goal at the end of regulation, the Elmhurst women's soccer team suffered a heartbreaking 2-1 double overtime loss to Carroll University.

The loss dropped Elmhurst to 9-5 overall and 3-4 in the CCIW. With just one conference game remaining, Elmhurst will face a must-win game against North Park next Saturday (October 28) and will need other teams to take a loss in order to qualify for the CCIW Tournament.
The evenly-matched contest was scoreless for over 87 minutes before Carroll (11-3-2, 3-1-2 CCIW) broke the tie. Rachel Van Sluys chipped a pass ahead to Delaney Pruitt down the middle. Pruitt beat Elmhurst keeper
Sophia Tuliglowski one-on-one to give the Pioneers a late 1-0 advantage.

Elmhurst countered in the final minute. A corner kick from the far side of the field was deflected out of bounds off a Carroll player, allowing the Bluejays a corner from the near sideline with just 15 seconds left.
Brittany Reinhart's corner kick was headed into the back of the net by
Kim Stanczak with just 11 seconds left on the clock to send the game into overtime.

Neither team could find the back of the net in the first overtime, although Elmhurst controlled more of the action. Carroll turned the tables in the second overtime. With just over two minutes remaining, the Bluejays failed to clear the ball downfield and Carroll countered. Van Sluys collected the ball from 10 yards out but her shot was blocked by the Elmhurst defense. Carroll's Sabrina Georgeff collected the rebound and tucked the shot inside the far post through traffic to give Carroll the victory.

Carroll outshot Elmhurst 17-8 in the contest, including a 5-1 edge in overtime. The Pioneers held a slim 12-8 edge in corner kicks.

Sophia Tuliglowski took the loss in net for Elmhurst despite recording eight saves. Christina O'Block stopped two shots to earn the win in goal for Carroll.
Elmhurst travels to Dominican University on Wednesday, October 25.
