HOLLAND, Mich. - The Elmhurst women's soccer team suffered its first loss of the season, falling 2-0 at Hope College.
Hope's Erin Jipping scored just 2:39 into the match and the Flying Dutch never looked. back. Kristin Hazlett connected on a fee from Jipping in the 26th minute to account for Hope's secocnd goal.
Hope controlled the pace of the game, outshooting Elmhurst (2-1) 17-5 in the game. Hope had a 9-4 cushion on shots in the opening half and outshot the Bluejays 8-1 in the game's final 45 minutes. The Flying Dutch also had a 9-3 edge in corner kicks.
Emily Gordon took the loss in net for the Bluejays, surrendering both goals and recording seven saves. Kat Dickson earned the shutout for the Flying Dutch by stopping all four shots she faced.
Elmhurst hosts Rhodes College on Sunday, September 8.
