ELMHURST, Ill. - Valerie Wesley scored a pair of goals to lead the Elmhurst College women's soccer team to a 4-0 win over Alverno College.
The win was the Bluejays' fifth straight victory and fourth straight win by shutout. Elmhurst has outscored its opponents 20-0 in its last four games.
Wesley scored just 2:31 into the game as she knocked home a cross from
Jess Belmonte. Wesley made it 2-0 just before the halftime when she collected a rebound from a
Heather De Moss shot and slid it past the keeper into the net.
Lexi Lawdensky scored her first collegiate goal in the 70th minute when she scored off a long feed from Belmonte.
Shelley Shapasian scored the Bluejays' final goal in the 80th minute by scoring off a
Kelsey Jasinski pass.
Elmhurst outshot Alverno 41-1 in the contest, as the Inferno did not register a shot until the closing seconds of the game.
Maddie Fitzpatrick earned the shutout in goal for the Bluejays by stopping the only shot she faced. Samantha Robinson recorded 19 saves in net for Alverno.
Elmhurst hosts Knox College on Sunday, September 25.
