ELMHURST, Ill. - The Elmhurst College men's cross country team totaled 178 points to place sixth at the season-opening Earlybird Invitational at Eldridge Park.

North Central College won the team title with 31 points. The University of Chicago placed second with 62 points and the University of St. Francis finished third with 76 points.

Jake Austin was the top finisher for the Bluejays, placing 20th overall by crossing the finish line in 20:11.4. Doug Vrchota placed 37th by completing the course in 20:42.2. Will Cross finished 52nd in 21:19.7 while Jeff Camp finished just three places behind in 55th place (21:22.7). Jeff Slavick completed the Bluejays' team score by placing 60th with a time of 21:30.4 Nathan Selling (69th place in 21:44.3) and Jake Leinweber (75th place in 22:01.0) rounded out the Bluejays' top-seven.

Elmhurst runs at the Illinois Intercollegiate Championships at Illinois State University on September 16.
