Bailey and Solar Pace Bluejays at Running of the Cows

NORTHFIELD, Minn. - The Elmhurst University men's and women's cross country teams competed at the Running of the Cows on Saturday, Oct. 3, at the Bill Huyck Cross Country Course. The men placed 16th of 20 in the Maize race while the women finished 32nd of 35 in the Navy Championship race.

On the men's side, Michael Bailey led the Bluejays in the 8,000-meter race, placing 26th out of 326 athletes with a time of 26:49.9. Sean Buckley followed in 114th (28:07.4), while Michael Johnson finished 211th (29:53.2). Kayden Miller took 214th (29:53.6), and Carter Swearingen rounded out Elmhurst's scoring five in 230th (30:11.9). The Bluejays totaled 457 points.

Jessica Solar paced the Elmhurst women in the 6,000-meter race, finishing 111th out of 324 athletes with a time of 23:01.4. Paige Rewerts placed 215th (23:51.6), followed by Joanna Rivera in 263rd (24:26.7). Morgan Ashcroft finished 282nd (24:44.9), while Jade Benavides completed the Bluejays' scoring five in 284th (24:47.7). Elmhurst totaled 954 points.

Up next: The Bluejays travel to Rock Island, Ill., for the Augustana Interregional Invitational at Saukie Golf Course. The meet is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
