ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - The Elmhurst University men's and women's cross country teams competed against a deep field at the Interregional Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 17, at Saukie Golf Course.

The Elmhurst women placed 23rd of 35 teams in the Division III Gold 6-kilometer race, scoring 677 points. Jessica Solar led the Bluejays with a 65th-place finish in 22:23.7. Morgan Ashcroft followed in 142nd with a time of 23:07.3.

Joanna Rivera placed 197th in 23:49.5, while Jade Benavides finished 212th in 24:00.0. Maribel Contreras rounded out Elmhurst's scoring five, crossing the finish line in 239th with a time of 24:18.8.

Elmhurst also placed 28th in the Women's Blue race with 827 points. Valeria Cozaya led the Bluejays in 211th with a time of 26:11.4, followed by Sandy Chagoya in 233rd at 26:50.5. Rhiannon Galasso placed 261st in 27:36.2, Maria Escobedo finished 268th in 28:00.6 and Annalise Wickersheim took 274th in 28:13.5.

On the men's side, the Bluejays placed 25th of 35 teams in the Blue 8-kilometer race with 692 points. Michael Bailey led Elmhurst, placing 36th overall with a time of 25:55.5. Scott Harvey followed in 116th, finishing in 26:49.0.

Michael Johnson placed 320th in 28:28.0, while Kayden Miller finished 375th in 29:00.5. Jack Helms completed Elmhurst's scoring lineup, placing 424th with a time of 29:52.6.

Up Next: The Bluejays will travel back to Warrenville, Ill, rounding out conference play at the CCIW Championships.
