ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - The Elmhurst College wrestling team dispatched Augustana 29-9 on Friday night.
After dropping the first two matches of the night via decision, Elmhurst lost only one other the remainder of the contest.
Larry Baca opened a string of three straight Elmhurst wins with a decision over Alberto Quiros at 141 by a 5-4 count.
Ryan Earley followed with a 14-7 mark at 149 over Steve Poffenberger with
Mike Grice blanking Mitch Musgrove at 157 for the first major decision at 8-0 to give Elmhurst the lead.
Following a defeat at 165, Elmhurst closed the meet with four straight wins including a major and two pins.
Frank Savegnago took down Alex Vavra 9-4 at 174.
Joe Rau followed suit with a pin of David Solis in the first period at 184.
Danny Vargas calimed victory via major at 197 11-3, and
Mark Corsello closed out the meet with a first period pin at 285.
Elmhurst next competes in the CCIW Championships on Thursday, January 10. The Bluejays will serve as the hosts of the event.
