SHEBOYGAN, Wis. - The Elmhurst College wrestling team, ranked 12th in the latest NWCA poll, remained unbeaten in dual meet competition by downing Lakeland College 39-9.

Elmhurst (5-0) won eight of the 10 matches en route to its fifth straight victory to open the 2011-12 season.

Mark Johnson started the dual with a 9-1 major victory over Lakeland's Grant Franson at 125 pounds. Freshman Matt Quigley gave Elmhurst a 10-0 lead by pinning Eduardo Orihuela in 4:30 at 133 pounds.

Lakeland scored six points at 141 points when James Parker pinned the Bluejays' Jake Denhof in 1:42.

Elmhurst went up 15-6 after Ryan Earley scored a 17-2 technical fall over the Muskies' Jacob Maechtle at 149 pounds. Mike Grice followed with a 15-2 major decision over Brent Steudel at 157 pounds to give the Bluejays a 19-6 cushion.

The Muskies scored their final points of the dual at 165 pounds when Ryan Rennon slipped past Yousef Al-Ghoul 9-7.

Elmhurst won the final four matches of the dual with Danny Balderas scoring a 9-1 major decision over Vincent Cararelle at 184 pounds. Joe Rau remained unbeaten on the season by pinning Jeremy Kroeger in 1:35 at 184 pounds. Rau's victory gave Elmhurst a 29-9 lead in the dual.

Danny Vargas scored a 25-11 major decision over Andrew Wagner at 197 pounds and Brian Brooks closed out the dual by pinning Lakeland's Thomas Phalin in 3:44 at 285 pounds.
