Three Bluejay Soccer Players Earn Academic Honors

Capital One Academic All-District Teams

ELMHURST, Ill. -
Three members of the Elmhurst College women's soccer team have been named to the Capital One Academic All-District team as voted on by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Morgan Geimer
Morgan Geimer and Heather De Moss were both named to the all-district first team while Valerie Wesley was a second-team selection.

Geimer earned first-team honors at defender after splitting time at defense and forward this season for the Bluejays. She ranked third on the squad in goals scored (six), assists (five), and total points (17). An exercise science major, Geimer maintains a 3.88 grade-point average.

Heather De Moss
De Moss was a first-team selection at midfielder after she finished the 2011 season with career highs in goals scored (six), assists (four) and total points (16). She ranked third on the squad in goals scored and finished fourth on the team in assists and total points. A nursing major, De Moss maintains a 3.95 grade-point average.

Valerie Wesley
Wesley was a second-team selection at forward after she set career highs in goals scored (nine), assists (eight) and total points (26). She ranked second on the squad in both goals and total points while leading the team in assists. She was recently named to the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin's second-team all-conference squad. A nursing major, Wesley maintains a 3.80 grade-point average.

As first-team honorees, Geimer and De Moss will be placed on the national ballot to earn Academic All-America honors.

The Academic All-District teams are broken into eight geographic districts (Elmhurst is in District 7) across the United States and Canada. This is the first year of the expanded Academic All-America program as CoSIDA has doubled the amount of student-athletes honored by separating the former College Division (comprised of all non-Division I schools) into separate Divisions for NCAA Division II and NCAA Division III participants. The new College Division combines NAIA, Canadian, and two-year institutions.
