Bluejays Finish Regular Season in Style With 5–0 Win Over Augustana

Results

The Elmhurst University women's soccer team closed out the regular season with a dominant 5–0 victory over Augustana College on Wednesday night at Langhorst Field. The Bluejays set the tone early with four first-half goals and capped the shutout win with another strike in the second half to secure their 12th victory of the season.

Elmhurst (12-5-2, 3-4-1 CCIW) wasted no time asserting control. In the 18th minute, Kelli Coughlin opened the scoring off a precise pass from Angie Lopez. Less than seven minutes later, Maddie Cummings doubled the lead with a composed finish, followed by a third goal in the 28th minute from Lauren Nevins—her 13th of the year—to make it 3–0. The Bluejays continued to press and added a fourth tally in the 43rd minute when Anna Norstrom netted her first collegiate goal, assisted by Lopez and Celeste Chapa.

Elmhurst's relentless attack continued after halftime as freshman Sophia Burkhead buried a shot in the 76th minute for her second goal of the season, completing the 5–0 scoreline. The Bluejays outshot Augustana 20–6 overall, including 12 shots on goal, while earning six corner kicks.

Coughlin, Cummings, Nevins, Norstrom, and Burkhead all found the back of the net in a balanced offensive effort. Lopez notched two assists on the night, and Chapa added one. Nevins and Coughlin each placed both of their shots on frame, leading a high-efficiency Bluejay attack that kept the Vikings on their heels throughout.

Defensively, goalkeepers Erin Fitzharris and Sequoia Ross combined for the shutout. Fitzharris made one save in the first half, while Ross added two in the second to preserve Elmhurst's ninth clean sheet of the season.

The Bluejays conclude the regular season with a statement win, riding strong momentum into postseason play.
