HOLLAND, Mich. - A goal off a corner kick with under four minutes to play propelled Hope College to a 4-3 win over the Elmhurst College women's soccer team.
Elmhurst (2-1-0) led 2-1 at the half after goals from Valerie Wesley and Kelsey Caldwell. Wesley found the back of the net in the ninth minute off an assist from Ali Siebel. Caldwell gave Elmhurst a 2-1 lead in the 30th minute when she scored off a Sarah Harvey assist.
Hope started the second half with a pair of goals to take a 3-2 lead. Courtney Constantino evened the score for the Bluejays in the 75th minute. Constantino netted her first goal of the season with Wesley tallying an assist.
Hope broke the 3-3 tie when Tricia Bajema headed home a goal off a Rachel Doud corner kick in the 87th minute. Bajema led Hope with three goals on the day.
Allison Korbel suffered her first loss of the season in goal for Elmhurst. Korbel allowed four goals while recording 11 saves.
The Bluejays host Lakeland College at Berens Park on Wednesday, September 9. The game is scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. start.
