CHICAGO, Ill. - The Elmhurst College men's soccer team slipped to 11-4-0 overall and 2-2-0 in the CCIW following a heartbreaking 3-2 double overtime loss at North Park University.
Elmhurst had a 2-0 halftime lead, but North Park (9-5-0, 4-1-0 CCIW) scored three unanswered goals to earn the win. The Viking's Kevin Gathje scored off a Sebastian Pilat assist in the game's 107th minute to break a 2-2 tie and lift North Park to the win.
Elmhurst grabbed a quick 2-0 lead in the first half. Brian Chrencik fired home a goal in the 11th minute to put Elmhurst up 1-0. Jake Pahr netted a goal just before the half in the 43rd minute to give the Bluejays a 2-0 lead at the break.
North Park's Isaac Lee cut the lead in half with a goal in the 47th minute and then scored the equalizer in the 74th minute.
North Park outshot Elmhurst 26-18 despite the Bluejays holding a 6-3 advantage in corner kicks.
Sebastian Domczewski recorded fives saves in goal for the Bluejays.
Elmhurst hosts Lake Forest College on Friday, October 17, at 4:00 p.m.
