ELMHURST, Ill. - The Elmhurst University men's soccer team celebrated Senior Night with a 6-1 victory over Coe College on Tuesday, Sept. 29, at Langhorst Field.
The Bluejays opened the match early as Andrew Walters scored off an assist from Isaac Puchalla at 5:33. Walters then connected with Ashton Kerrigan at 13:02 to give Elmhurst (4-4-1, 1-0-0 CCIW) a 2-0 lead. Coe (5-6-1) answered with a goal at 17:13, but Nicolo Azzani restored the focus off a pass from Micah Wong at 42:08, sending Elmhurst into halftime ahead 3-1.
Jacob Wipke extended the lead scoring at 47:56, while Brian Biederman added another goal at 80:16 before Grayson Kalinich finished off an assist from Kameron McShaw at 84:59 to complete the scoring 6-1.
The Bluejays rose to the occasion for Senior Night, putting together a complete team performance across the field. Elmhurst outshot Coe 20-10 and held a 7-5 advantage in corner kicks. Walters and Kerrigan led the Bluejays with four shots apiece, including three on goal, and each scored once. Walters also added an assist.Â
Niyen Ruffin made one save in the first half, while Jakub Wiktorczyk stopped three shots in a scoreless second half for Coe.
