ELMHURST, Ill. - The Elmhurst University men's soccer team fell 1-0 to North Central College on Saturday, Oct. 3, at Langhorst Field.
The Cardinals opened the match's lone goal at 6:33, setting the score 1-0. Elmhurst (4-5-1, 1-1) generated seven shots after halftime, with Ashton Kerrigan hitting the crossbar at 74:23. Niyen Ruffin recorded four saves in each half to keep the Bluejays within striking distance.
Kerrigan, Andrew Walters and Brian Biederman each put a shot on goal in the final 11 minutes, but the Bluejays were unable to find the net.
Kerrigan and Walters led Elmhurst with three shots apiece, while Ruffin finished with eight saves. North Central (7-2-2, 1-0-1) held a 17-10 advantage in shots, with both teams earning three corner kicks.
Up Next: The Bluejays travel to Bloomington, Ill., to face Illinois Wesleyan University in a CCIW matchup on Wednesday, Oct. 7. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Neis Soccer Field.
