Elmhurst, Ill. - The Elmhurst University men's soccer team struck first, but University of Wisconsin-Whitewater rallied after the half for a final 4-1 victory Sunday, Sept. 27, at Langhorst Field.
The Bluejays created several early chances, putting three shots on goal before Nikolas Dabic connected a pass to Brian Biederman for a header goal in the 28th minute, giving Elmhurst (3-4-1) a 1-0 lead.
Wisconsin-Whitewater (4-1-3) tied the match in the 42nd minute and scored again with 15 seconds left in the first half. The Warhawks added two goals less than a minute apart in the 72nd and 73rd minutes. The Bluejays responded with three shots continuing to take opportunities till the final moments with two of three on goal by Micah Wong and Logan Kennedy.
Elmhurst finished with nine shots, putting seven on goal. Ashton Kerrigan and Dabic led the Bluejays with two shots apiece. Andrew Walters tested the goalkeeper early, while Wong and Kennedy each put a shot on goal late in the second half. Niyen Ruffin finished with five saves.
Up Next: The Bluejays return to Langhorst Field on Tuesday, Sept. 29, to host Coe College for Senior Night. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
