NAPERVILLE, Ill. – For the second time this month, sophomore jumper Chloe Selmer was recognized as the CCIW Women's Indoor Track & Field Student-Athlete of the Week, following a record-breaking performance over the weekend.
Selmer took home 2nd place in two events at the Chicagoland Indoor Championships at North Central College. In the women's long jump, Selmer set the Elmhurst program record, clearing 5.93m (19' 5.5") on her third attempt. The jump makes Selmer the first Bluejay to clear 5.9 meters in the event, and is just 0.03m from the all-time CCIW record.
The Jacksonville, Fla. native also placed second in the women's triple jump, clearing 11.58m (38' 0.25"). Nationally, Selmer ranks 12th in the triple jump, and improved her standing to 3rd in the nation in the long jump.
The Bluejays return to North Central on Friday, Feb. 20 to compete in the Slick Invitational, one week before the CCIW Indoor Track & Field Championships on Feb. 27-28.
