ELMHURST, Ill. – For the first time this season and the third time in her career, junior Tiana Grady has been recognized as the CCIW Women's Indoor Track & Field Student Athlete of the Week, announced by the league office on Wednesday.
While competing at the Coach Shoe Invitational at Illinois Wesleyan, Grady picked up two victories, winning the women's 60 meters as well as the women's 60 meter hurdles. After a top preliminary time of 8.01, Grady recorded a time of 7.83 to take the top spot in the 60 meters.
The Bakersfield, Calif. Native qualified for the finals of the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 9.10, and lowered that mark to 8.99 seconds to earn her second win of the day.
Grady currently sits at No. 2 in both events on the CCIW performance list and ranks No. 16 nationally in the 60m hurdles. In the 60 meters, Grady is currently ranked 29th nationally.
Grady and the rest of the Bluejays are preparing for the team's next appearance, coming this Saturday, Jan. 24 at the Aurora Grand Prix.
