ELMHURST, Ill. – Junior Donovin Fields earned his first career tournament title, leading the Bluejays at the 43rd Al Hanke Invitational, hosted inside R.A. Faganel Hall on Saturday.
Fields earned the top spot in the 133 lbs. competition, picking up two major decisions and out-scoring his opponents 30-6 over three matches. In the title match, Fields would defeat Sam Sikorski (Harper College) by major decision, 12-3.
The Jays also had a medalist at 174 lbs., with Corey Bradley placing second. In the 125 lb. division, Alejandro Cordova would take home 4th with back-to-back major decisions, while Mataeo Blessing also earned 4th at 184 lbs.
Nicholas Asllani led Elmhurst with three falls, over a combined 13:51 in the 165 lb. division.
As a team, Elmhurst would place 6th, scoring 75.5 points on the day.
The Bluejays return to Faganel Hall for their next test, when Elmhurst hosts the CCIW Duals on Friday, Jan. 23.
