METAMORA, Ill. - The Elmhurst University women's golf team turned in a fourth-place finish at the CCIW Preview, held September 16 at Metamora Fields Golf Club in Metamora, Ill. The Bluejays carded a team total of 335 to place fourth in the six-team field.
Augustana topped the leaderboard at 304, followed by Carthage in second with a 327 and Millikin's "A" squad in third at 328. Elmhurst came in fourth at 335, finishing 35 strokes ahead of Millikin's "B" squad (370) and nearly 50 clear of host Wheaton (384).
Individually, sophomore Hailey Vogt paced the Bluejays with a career-best round of 79, tying for fifth place overall in the 39-player field. Vogt finished just seven strokes behind medalist Sarah Bond of Augustana, who fired an even-par 72.
Freshman Laine Leonard joined Vogt in the top 15, carding an 83 to tie for 13th place. Jessica Perns followed closely behind, shooting an 86 to share 18th. Emily Roberts turned in an 87 to tie for 23rd, while Magen Laas added a 97 and Ava Sweeten rounded out Elmhurst's scoring with a 98.
Competing individually, Ava Ferri posted an 89, good for a tie for 28th place.
