Men's Track and Field Place 9th at CCIW Championship

NAPERVILLE, Ill. - The Elmhurst University men's track and field team traveled to the North Central College as they hosted the CCIW Outdoor Track and Field Championship. 

 In the 400m, Zaine Smith surged to a new PR of 50.71, displaying his relentless drive and discipline. Meanwhile, the middle-distance events saw Michael Bailey and Christ Marroquin shine in the 800m, both achieving new PRs of 1:58.87 and 2:02.15, respectively. Their grit was mirrored by Eric Martinez and Christian Gleba in the 1500m, with PRs of 4:11.83 and 4:17.19, further boosting the team's morale.

In the grueling 10,000m, Caleb DeBoer showcased incredible stamina and focus, clocking a PR of 33:02.74. The hurdles were no less thrilling, as Jordan Landau fought through the demanding 400m hurdles to set a PR of 1:06.86.

The relay teams delivered pivotal performances, with the 4x100 relay squad—featuring Tyresse Miller, Rickey Martinez, Cristian Doyle, and Pierce Reinhard—securing fifth place with a time of 42.81 and earning four points. The 4x400 relay team, consisting of Pierce Reinhard, Shawn Woodall, Chris Marroquin, and Christian Doyle, added two more points with a seventh-place finish and a time of 3:24.77.

In the field events, Kayton Garrett soared in the Long Jump with a PR of 6.78m, earning sixth place and three points, while teammate Gino Orestano set a PR of 5.66m. The Triple Jump witnessed an electrifying performance by Rickey Martinez, who secured second place with a PR of 14.15m, while Kayton Garrett added another point to the tally with an eighth-place finish and a mark of 13.18m.

The Decathlon proved to be a highlight, as Jaedon Thompson delivered a versatile and commanding performance, placing second overall and securing six points. He achieved PRs in six of the ten events: the 1500m, Javelin, Pole Vault, Discus Throw, 400m, and Shot Put, showcasing his all-around athletic prowess.
