ELMHURST - The Elmhurst University track and field teams opened the first of two Last Chance Weekends with a strong showing at the Augustana College Penultimate Qualifier and the St. Francis Fighting Chance Invite. With national qualifying marks on the line and one more opportunity still ahead, the Bluejays rose to the occasion by posting school records, personal bests, and top NCAA Division III performances across both meets.
Augustana College Penultimate Qualifier -Â (May 9)
Elmhurst opened the weekend at the Augustana College Penultimate Qualifier with strong results across sprints, middle distance, and field events. On the men's side, Cristian Doyle led a trio of Bluejays in the 100-meter dash, clocking a personal-best 10.96 to place 3rd overall. Tyresse Miller finished 10th with a time of 11.39, while Pierce Reinhard came in 13th at 11.44. Reinhard also placed 10th in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.90. In the 800 meters, Michael Bailey turned in a gutsy effort, finishing 6th with a personal-best 1:59.65. In the field, Logan Turney cleared 4.65 meters to take 1st in the pole vault, and Rickey Martinez landed a 13.86-meter mark in the triple jump to secure 2nd place.
The women's team had an equally impressive day, highlighted by several historic performances. Lauren Marshall advanced in the 100-meter dash after taking 2nd in the prelims with a time of 11.99. Kate Weber broke the school record in the pole vault, winning the event with a personal-best 3.55 meters. The Bluejays dominated the long jump, with Chloe Selmer leaping 5.80 meters to finish 1st—good for the second-best mark in school history and 21st in Division III this season. Paulina Tinajero followed in 3rd (5.67m), Vanessa Carr took 8th (5.12m), Marshall placed 9th (5.05m), and Sherlyn Carrasco landed in 10th (4.97m). In the triple jump, Carr placed 3rd with a jump of 10.80 meters, and Carrasco added a 9th-place mark of 9.39 meters.
St. Francis Fighting Chance Invite (May 9-10)
The Bluejays continued their momentum at the St. Francis Fighting Chance Invite, where even more personal bests and school records fell. On the men's side, Eric Martinez turned in a career-best performance in the 5000 meters, finishing 3rd in 15:37.33. Adrian Campos competed in the 400-meter hurdles, placing 17th in 1:06.01.
The Elmhurst women were once again the stars of the meet, led by Alyssa Busker's record-setting sprint in the 100 meters. Busker clocked a personal-best 11.60 to place 2nd overall, breaking the school record and recording the 4th-fastest time in NCAA Division III this season. Lauren Marshall followed in 4th with a time of 11.93, and Tiana Grady placed 7th in 12.44 after running a personal-best 12.09 in prelims—the fifth-best time in Elmhurst history. Hannah Schwarz (12.60) and Gianna Konieczny (12.77, personal best) rounded out the Bluejay efforts in the event.
In the 200 meters, Carmela Woods ran a personal-best 25.22, earning a spot as the fifth-fastest in program history. Schwarz (26.06), Konieczny (26.09, 10th all-time), and Jasmine Pickett (27.04, PR) also impressed. Woods returned in the 400 meters to place 3rd with a school-record and personal-best 56.76. In the distance events, Molly Roberts ran 4:55.07 to take 8th in the 1500 meters, and Molly Glover posted a 20:40.82 in the 5000 meters.
The 100-meter hurdles featured an exceptional trio of performances: Nakala Nadeau broke the school record with a 14.10 for 2nd place, Brooke Greaves ran a personal-best 14.57 for 4th (third all-time), and Anna Andretich placed 7th with a PR of 15.05 (fifth all-time). Pickett added a 15.94 in prelims, placing her 10th in program history. Konieczny also competed in the 400-meter hurdles, finishing in 1:08.72, while Ashley Kachurik ran a solid 11:15.41 in the 3000-meter steeplechase.
Elmhurst capped off the meet with a dominant performance in the 4x100-meter relay, as the team of Grady, Marshall, Schwarz, and Busker claimed 1st place in 45.88.
