ELMHURST, Ill. - The Elmhurst University men's track and field team hosted the Elmhurst Twilight over the weekend
At the weekend's track and field meet, the athletes delivered stellar performances, breaking personal records (PRs) across a variety of events. In the 100m dash, Shawn Woodall showcased his speed, setting a blazing new PR of 11.58, while his teammate Gino Orestano also reached a new milestone with a time of 11.94. Over in the 400m, Chris Marroquin hit a career-best, completing the lap in 51.92 seconds.
The middle-distance events saw incredible strides, with Michael Bailey excelling in both the 800m and 1500m, posting PRs of 2:01.62 and 4:11.05, respectively. Eric Martinez followed closely behind, also achieving personal bests of 2:04.59 in the 800m and 4:13.12 in the 1500m. In the grueling 5000m, Nicholas Williams earned 6th place and a new PR of 15:55.55. Caleb DeBoer wasn't far behind, finishing 8th with a PR of 16:00.39, and Brandon Pounders clocked in at a PR of 16:31.38.
Hurdling events saw standout efforts, with Jaedon Thompson placing 10th in the 100m hurdles and setting a new PR of 17.47. In the 400m hurdles, Braxton Mitchell and Rickey Martinez both achieved PRs with times of 1:03.61 and 1:04.49, respectively. Over in the 3000m steeplechase, Preston Bailey powered through to finish 6th overall with a time of 10:29.89.
In the relays, the Jays' B team shone brightly in the 4x400m, clinching 2nd place with a time of 3:25.71. The team, composed of Pierce Reinhard, Issac Marcero, Joey Schied, and Harry Llobrera, demonstrated remarkable teamwork and resilience.
The field events were equally impressive. In the high jump, Hemory Phifer cleared 1.76m to take 6th place, while Jaedon Thompson followed in 8th with a mark of 1.66m. In the long jump, Mayton Garrett leaped to 3rd place with a distance of 6.65m, while Pierce Reinhard secured 8th with 6.22m, and Braxton Mitchell set a PR with a jump of 5.80m. Garrett returned to dominate the triple jump, claiming 1st place with a mark of 13.28m, while Mitchell placed 6th with 12.23m.
