WHEATON, Ill. - The Elmhurst University men's track and field team traveled over the Wheaton College for their fourth even of the outdoor season.
Braxton Mitchell set the tone in the 200m, blazing to a new PR with a time of 24.73. In the 400m, Zaiden Smith led the charge, clocking an impressive PR of 50.97. Not far behind, teammate Joey Schied also achieved a PR, finishing in 54.84.
The 800m saw stellar performances from Michael Bailey, who secured a PR of 2:02.45, and Issac Marcero, who followed closely with a PR of 2:05.08. In the 1500m, the Jays excelled with three athletes setting new PRs: Caleb DeBoer (4:14.26), Christian Gleba (4:20.19), and Brandon Pounders (4:26.76).
Rickey Martinez put on a strong showing in the 5000m, placing 4th overall with a PR of 15:44.33. David Valkanov joined the PR parade in the same event, finishing with a time of 16:38.93.
Nicholas Williams represented the Jays in the 3000m steeplechase, placing 8th with a time of 10:07.68 in a gritty effort.
The 4x400 relay team of Jaedon Thompson, Chris Marroquin, Issac Marcero, and Zaiden Smith placed 6th overall, clocking a time of 3:27.52.
In the pole vault, Logan Turney took 4th with a mark of 3.85m. The long jump trio of Kayton Garrett (6.64m, 4th place), Pierce Reinhard (6.54m, 6th place, PR), and Gino Orestano (5.48m, PR) showcased the team's depth.
Meanwhile, Braxton Mitchell added a 7th-place finish in the triple jump with a mark of 12.59m.
Jaedon Thompson closed out the field events with a stellar performance in the javelin, achieving a PR of 45.16m.
