Bluejays Set New PR's at the Keck Select

BLOOMINGTON, IL. - The Elmhurst University men's track and field team would travel down to Illinois Wesleyan for their first event during the month of February. 
 

At the Keck Select hosted by Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington, IL, the men's track and field team put on an impressive display of personal achievements, with multiple athletes setting new personal records (PRs) across a variety of events.

In the 60m, Kayton Garrett and Harry Lobrera both clocked in at 8.10 seconds, setting personal bests and showing that they've made significant strides in their sprinting. Tyresse Miller had a standout performance in the 200m, setting a new lifetime PR with a time of 23.69 seconds. His teammates also had strong performances in the 200m, with Braxton Mitchell and Jordan Landua recording new PRs of 25.56 and 25.84, respectively.

Isaac Marcero and Sebastian Palafox pushed their limits in the 400m, each breaking their own records—Marcero with a time of 55.63 and Palafox with 56.78. In the 800m, Nicholas Williams posted a new PR of 2:06.51, while Eric Martinez shattered his previous best, clocking in at 2:07.02. Martinez didn't stop there, however, as he also set a new lifetime best in the Indoor Mile, running 4:40.54. Caleb DeBoer followed suit, setting his own PR in the Mile with a time of 4:42.04, and Brandon Pounders rounded out the group with a new lifetime best of 4:53.50. Hudson Wills also had a solid performance in the Mile, setting a new PR of 4:56.93.

In the hurdles, Jaedon Thompson made a mark by setting a lifetime best in the 60m hurdles with a time of 9.61 seconds. The field events also saw impressive performances, with TJ Ellison setting a new lifetime best in the high jump, clearing 1.85m and placing 8th overall. Logan Turney had a strong showing in the pole vault, securing 4th place with a mark of 4.70m.

The long jump saw Jaedon Thompson soaring to a new Indoor PR with a jump of 6.12m, while Ellison also set a new personal best in the event with a mark of 5.62m. In the triple jump, Gino Orsetano achieved a new PR with a jump of 11.09m, and Hemory Phifer made waves, setting a lifetime best of 12.91m while finishing 6th overall. Jeffrey Leighliter also had a solid showing, placing 9th with a jump of 12.30m.
