NAPERVILLE, Ill. - For the second-straight week, sophomore
Kristin Bukata of the Elmhurst University women's basketball team garnered CCIW Student-Athlete of the Week honors, as announced by the conference office Tuesday morning.
The announcement comes off the heels of Bukata being named a unanimous First Team All-CCIW selection by the league head coaches. Across two key victories for the Bluejays last week, Bukata never left the floor and helped lead the Jays into the CCIW Tournament. Against Carthage last Wednesday (Feb. 19), Bukata played the full 40 minutes, scoring 18 points, seven rebounds, and three assists in the 75-68 Bluejay win.
Against Carroll on Saturday (Feb. 22), Bukata played all 40 minutes of regulation and the extra five minutes in overtime, notching 19 points on 8-for-14 shooting, a career-high 12 assists, and six rebounds in a 93-88 overtime win, clinching a CCIW Tournament spot for Elmhurst.
Bukata and the Bluejay women's basketball team open the postseason tonight, Feb. 25, in a CCIW Tournament Quarterfinal matchup at Wheaton at 7:00 p.m.
