ELMHURST, Ill. - Rhenzo Augusto, a freshman member of the Elmhurst University men's wrestling team, has been recognized by the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) and The Open Mat as the 15th-ranked wrestler at 157 pounds, as announced by each organization this week.

Augusto surged into the national rankings after taking home the 157-pound championship at last weekend's Al Hanke Invitational. There, Augusto went 4-0 and took home the win after downing the 11th-ranked wrestler, Jermaine Butler of UW-Whitewater, in the championship match. Augusto earned last week's CCIW Student-Athlete of the Week honors, and has earned two weekly awards from the conference in just his first year at EU.

Augusto holds an 18-2 overall record on the season, with six techincal fall and three pinfall wins. The Jays are back in action to wrap up regular season CCIW action at the CCIW Duals against Illinois Wesleyan, Aurora, and MSOE this Saturday, Jan. 25 beginning at 12:00 p.m.
